Tarup Strand and the bridges into Sweden

Found a great campsite easily in Denmark where we spent a pleasant evening as the sunshine came out for us after a rainy day.  Our view was overlooking one of the toll bridges we were to cross on our way to Sweden.  The campsite was quiet and we ate popcorn from the microwave (very decadent) and sipped wine.  The next day, after a quick Skype chat to my daughter in Australia we headed off over the bridges.  Very spectacular.  I hope to do a painting of one soon.

I hope you like these two pages from my art journal.  Please leave a comment.

  1. That’s so cool. I’d love to draw the places I go to.
I was wondering if I could include one of your pictures in a book I’m working on where real people who write share about writing. It’s to inspire people to write. One section is on travel writing and I’ve collected a few pieces on this form of writing. I’d like to include a visual form as well.
Your name, age and location would be included and all credit would go to you.
Was also wondering if you could write a couple sentences about why you have an art journal on your travels.
All good if you want to decline, just thought I’d check.

    1. Well, that sounds exciting. I have just popped over to your blog and I too have enjoyed the studying process when I did my doctorate, now well over 13 years ago. I would be happy for you to include one of my pictures as long as you acknowledge the source, which you said you would. In fact, it would be rather encouraging for me as I am new to this art journaling. I only started last year and I find the process of painting what I see along the road gives greater meaning to our travels. I can re-live our adventures through re-visiting the journal and because I have looked more closely rather than taken just a digital image, I can engage in the moment.
My name is Sue Shorman, I am 53 and live in Devon, England.
Good luck with the book it sounds quite an adventure in itself. I would love to know when you get it published so I can consider buying a copy.

      1. Thank-you so much! I’m so glad. May I include the two pictures from the Germany and Denmark post? Also, may I include the picture of your suitcase with those lovely art supplies?

I’d love to include these words too: ‘I am new to art journaling. I only started last year and I find the process of painting what I see along the road gives greater meaning to our travels. I can re-live our adventures through re-visiting the journal and because I have looked more closely rather than taken just a digital image, I can engage in the moment.’

And can I say that you are currently traveling around . . . in the credits. If you can fill out the blanks.

Thanks so much for your encouragement.

  2. Yes, that will be great.
We are currently traveling around Scandinavia and visiting the Arctic Circle.
I hope all goes well with your writing. I love the research and the intellectual engagement. Enjoy the process as well as the outcome!
