Handmade journal

Well, next month I have decided to focus on faces for a month in the hope of getting better at drawing, painting and mixed media.  We shall see.  So, I thought I would make my own journal. Having just received my new Inktense pencils from Amazon in a nice cardboard envelope, I decided to use this as the basis for the cover of journal.  I covered it in gelli printed deli paper, added some holes for a handmade button and some of my own printed washi tape (this is really masking tape which I love making).  I used some water colour paper, some white card and some pale purple card to make the signatures and just wrapped some embroidery silk through the signatures and round the cover.  I finally covered the silk with a couple of layers of my washi tape and some sellotape for final stability.  It was a quick fix but I am quite pleased with the results although I am sure it would not win any prizes for a perfect homemade journal but …..

A ten day trip to Northern France

imageimageCalais, France imageWell, having just posted a picture of my dog I decided it was really time to catch up with my blog.  So, recently we took a trip to Northern Fance in our new motorhome.  The weather was cold but we were cosy warm in our insulated van.  We had a wonderful time and the key word was ‘leisurely’.  We did not drive very far but we walked and watched the world go by.  Brilliant.

So here is A peek inside my art travel journal.

All in all, we decided this was the way we liked to travel.  No set destination and the only timescale set by the outward and return ferry times.

Drawing Pippin our dog

I’ve been away for a long time from my blog but just sat down to draw my dog.  Quite pleased with the result.  I drew it on paper I had printed using acetate sheet for the faux gelli plate.  But I am not quite sure what to do with it now!

I have been doing lots of painting and drawing but not posted anything.  I think I really ought to catch up with all I have been doing.

Anyway, here is a photo of the drawing.  I hope you like it.
